The University of Alabama in Huntsville and the Water Center for
the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean (CATHALAC) offer an eight
week research and study abroad program focusing on environmental issues related
to Climate Change and Sustainable Development. Applicants must have
successfully completed at least two semesters of undergraduate work and have
basic computer skills. Basic Spanish proficiency is a plus, but NOTrequired. Visiting
students must apply and enroll through UAHuntsville and can receive six
undergraduate credits that can be transferred to their home institution. panama.uah.edu

NPFDA 2012-2013 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The NPFDA
(National Poultry & Food Distributors Association) Scholarship Foundation
is entering its 33rd year of scholarship assistance. Every year, we award four $1,500.00
scholarships to students in the fields of poultry science, food science,
agricultural economics/marketing, nutrition and all other areas of study
related to the poultry industry.Each student selected will receive a $1,500.00 -$2000.00 scholarship from NPFDA.
Interested
students may apply for the 2012-2013 academic year scholarships by completing
the application at http://www.npfda.org/and sending it along with a 1 or 2 page letter
explaining their career goals. They will
then need to forward this to their College Dean's Office or Department
Head. It will be necessary for their
Dean or Department Head to forward the application, goals, transcripts, and an
endorsement of the student to the NPFDA Scholarship Foundation.
The
application, transcript and letter of endorsement must reach the NPFDA office
no later than May 31, 2012. Selection
and notification will be completed by July 15th.

Selection
criteria for the scholarship will include, but not be limited to the following:
1. Students must be in their Junior
or Senior (college) year when they receive the scholarship - therefore may be a
sophomore or Junior when applying.
2. Consideration of academic
excellence.
3. Applicants must be enrolled as a
full time student in a U.S. University/College.
4. Past and current involvement in
poultry, ag and food related activities.
5. Professional objectives of the
student.
