Overview: The Residential Landscape Ecology
(RLE) Lab (https://rle-iannone.com/) of Dr. Basil Iannone in the School of
Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida is looking for a
creative and motivated person interested in biodiversity, ecosystem services,
and promoting sustainable landscaping design and practices in current and
future urban landscapes. The position presents a unique opportunity to gain
highly versatile research skills through field work, lab experience, and data
analytics alongside a supportive, professional academic team. This is a
part-time job (up to 20 hrs/week) with competitive hourly pay beginning

Duties: Candidate would contribute to a
dynamic team of interdisciplinary researchers and extension professionals
working to determine how landscaping practices affect ecosystem services and
water resources. Candidate would contribute to project by assisting with
sampling vegetation, pest pressure, pollinators, and soil from residential
yards; processing samples in the lab; data input and analysis; working with
stakeholders to develop outreach products to promote sustainable landscaping;
and general tasks supporting the lab’s mission.
Qualifications:
Interests in relevant topics, e.g.
urban ecology, botany, horticulture, landscape architecture, sustainability
Willingness to work long hours outdoors
and learn lab procedures and data processing
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
