MS and PhD positions - N.C. Ag & Tech State University

MS and PhD positions in Bioenvironmental Engineering The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is looking for two highly motivated MS or PhD students to join a USDA funded project on the ecological engineering techniques for improvement of on-farm water quality. Applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Biological Engineering, Environmental engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have strong work ethic, prior research experience, familiarity to laboratory and field studies, knowledge of water quality analysis at the lab, and instrumentation. You will work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers. The DOE Scholars Program introduces students and recent college graduates to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) mission and operations.

Why should I apply?
Being selected as a DOE Scholar offers the following benefits:
Stipends starting at $600 per week for undergraduates and $650 per week for graduate students and post graduates during the internship period
Limited travel reimbursement to/from assigned location
Direct exposure to and participation in projects and activities in DOE mission-relevant research areas

Eligibility

DC Gator Club Scholarship

Fall 2020 - Currently-enrolled students at the University of Florida who are interning for an organization based in the DMV area (whether or not they are participating virtually), for credit or non-credit, at all levels of enrolled student (undergraduate and graduate) are invited to apply for the DC Gators Internship Scholarship. There will be a voluntary area where the applicant can communicate financial need if they wish.

If a student is not enrolled in classes and not interning for credit, the tuition scholarship would apply to their next eligible semester.

Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the D.C. Gator Club Scholarship Committee and one recipient will be selected for the $1,500 scholarship. AFTER SUBMITTING THIS FORM, send your unofficial transcript to scholarships@dcgators.com.

NRCS Summer Intern position-apply by 10/21

NRCS is seeking a summer engineering intern to be located in Palmetto.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of survey work to develop topographic, cross section, profile, and other types of duty for use by a professional engineer.
  • Operates and is trained in the operation of engineering instruments such as an engineer's level, hand level, laser level, total station, data collector, and GPS.
  • Operates a personal computer to process data, organize data, type design reports, estimate costs, calculate material quantities, and perform simple hydrology and hydraulic calculations
  • Assists with construction inspection and layout for conservation structures for adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Assists technicians in evaluating the needs and feasibility of proposed conservation projects.
  • Student Trainees will perform the following duties under direct supervision. Assignments will be developmental in nature and will assist the employee in gaining the competencies necessary for a career.

Bilingual Support Group at the CWC

The UF Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) is starting up ¿Cómo Estás? — an counseling group for UF students who are bilingual and/or native Spanish speakers. 

Its aim is to promote connection and support in the Spanish language amid these times of physical distance and pandemic precautions. 

The group will meet online on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
