Southeast Soils produces professional, custom potting media and quality organics for the horticulture and agriculture industries. We have multiple reps that handle technical sales across the state of Florida and we service a large portion of Florida’s wholesale plant nurseries. We are seeking an outgoing individual to serve as a Sales Support Assistant to support our sales team through a variety of ways.

Responsibilities:
· Learn and maintain a working knowledge of our products and capabilities that will be necessary to all aspects of role
· Handle sales calls and walk up sales in the office-determine technical needs of customer, quote, and schedule delivery
· Manage inventory of customer stock materials (QuickBooks)
· Manage website and social media accounts
· Will require some occasional local travel-trade shows, industry meetings, visiting customers
· Give tours of facility
· Keep records of product labels and information and disseminate to sales reps in timely manner

Qualifications:
· Independent, outgoing person comfortable with a sales job while working in an office and team setting
· Previous sales experience preferred but not necessarily required
· Horticulture and/or agriculture experience is preferred
· Strong communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products
· Bi-lingual ability is a plus
· Experience with QuickBooks is a plus

Green Circle Growers’ Internship Program gives students majoring in Horticulture Programs the opportunity to work for one of the largest greenhouse operations in the Midwest. GCG is committed to introducing fresh new ideas to the market place while utilizing production methods that are efficient and environmentally conscious.

The goal of Green Circle Growers’ Internship Program is to give students a hands-on experience in each specialized area. Interns will work with experienced GCG growers and staff, who guide and educate them throughout the Internship process. Some areas Interns will focus on are: Plant Watering (Priva Computer System), Biological Control Program, Insect Scouting & Recording, Soft Chemical Applications, Plant Rotations and much more.

• 16-week Spring or Fall Internship Program & a 10-week Summer Internship Program
• Paid Internship of $9.50/hr. with additional compensation for any overtime hours that exceed 80 hours in the two-week pay period
• Separate housing for up to 7 male and 4 female Interns within walking distance to work
• A Rotating Internship Program to learn all aspects of growing in a greenhouse

UAB Summer Graduate Recruitment Fair

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Graduate School would like to invite all students to attend the 2018 UAB Summer Graduate Program Recruitment Fair.

The Summer Recruitment Fair will be held at UAB on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM. A flyer is attached for more details. This two hour event will provide an opportunity for UAB graduate programs to conduct student recruitment, and enable graduate programs to have face-to-face contact with students to provide first-hand information about higher education options at UAB.

Greenhouse and field research assistance

Attention all outdoor oriented job seeking undergrads! Greenhouse and field research assistance is needed at the UF/IFAS Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants (http://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/), located off campus at 7922 NW 71St St. Gainesville, FL 32653. A position is available immediately (Summer 2018) that will extend into the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters.

Job Responsibilities: The primary function of this position is to provide support for ongoing research projects at the Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants. Duties are as follows:

Maintain plants used for research, extension and teaching purposes. Entails regular watering (2-3x/week, occasional weekend) and the propagation and cultivation of plants. Requires lifting 40lb bags of potting media. The application of household (domestic use labeled) fungicides and insecticides using two-gallon hand held spray pumps will also be needed.

Upkeep greenhouses and outdoor growing facilities. General upkeep includes the ability to shovel organic debris and to operate a large power-washer for cleaning tanks between experiments. A three-gallon backpack sprayer must be confidently handled for conducting herbicide weed control in plant growing areas. Incumbent will set up greenhouse benches, hang and remove shade cloths and tarps and conduct other types of assembly, cleaning, and organizational tasks.

Help set up, maintain, and collect data from greenhouse and field experiments on aquatic and upland invasive plants.

Assist graduate students in research projects and data entry.

Note: These positions require a committed schedule of 12-20 hours each week. Minimum 3-4 hour blocks of time are required on a set weekly schedule of at least 3 days/week. Transportation to the Center is necessary and cannot be provided. Occasional travel to aquatic and field research sites throughout the State may occur. A State of Florida driver’s license is required. State trucks will be used for all duties. If you are interested in invasive, wetland and aquatic plants, and can endure the heat of outdoor work in Florida; this is the job for you!
