Gator Launch Mentoring Program

Gator Launch is a mentoring and education program for underrepresented second- and third-year UF students (including transfer students) in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to network with a mentor in one of the STEM fields as well as to participate in career development activities. The term underrepresented includes gender, economic status, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and any other identities that are not well-represented in STEM fields.

The activities—aimed at enhancing students’ professional skills—include:

  • Participating in monthly professional development seminars

  • Meeting with your career mentor on a regular basis

  • Job shadowing a mentor in your career field of interest

  • Working on an innovation project related to your professional interests

The focus of this program is on research and industry fields and therefore the Career Resource Center is unable to provide mentors in most health professions. The deadline to apply for the 2012-2013 year is June 8. After this date, students will still be able to sign up on a rolling basis.  You can find more information and access the application here: http://www.crc.ufl.edu/students/studentGatorLaunch.html.
