Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Will perform polymer analysis on bio-absorbable orthopedic implants.
2.Will perform static and dynamic mechanical testing and evaluation involving new and current orthopedic products to ensure reliability and correct functionality.
3.Will assist in preparation of written reports and maintaining and creating various engineering test environments.
4.Some work will be performed on cadaveric subjects.
5.Will assist on in vitro degradation studies of biodegradable products with an emphasis on changes in mechanical properties, polymeric degradation and thermal properties over time.
6.Will assist on blood and bone marrow projects with an emphasis on hematological testing via CBC analysis and ELISA.
Education and Experience:
Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with major in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Prior work in a laboratory setting would be highly advantageous. Experience with polymer science, biological testing, and chemical testing equipment is desired. Mechanical testing experience involving tensile, compression, and shear is a plus.
