The MARC GatorSTAR program is a new scholarship program at UF for underrepresented minority students who would like to pursue a career in biomedical or behavioral science research. The new GatorSTAR program is specifically designed for students who are excited about biomedical and behavioral research but do not intend to apply to medical, dental or veterinary school. Did you know that doctoral students in the biomedical and behavioral sciences typically receive a stipend (usually $20k-24k/yr) during their PhD training, plus health and dental insurance, and they don’t even have to pay tuition or fees?
If you are interested in going on to a PhD program to pursue a career as a biomedical or behavioral science researcher (whether in academia, government, or industry), the GatorSTAR program will help you get there. The program matches you with UF and extramural faculty research mentors, and provides up to $52,000 in scholarship, stipend, and travel support. Applications for the GatorSTAR program are now open, but we can accept only seven new students this year. We will begin reviewing applications on Friday, October 7th, so if you meet the admission criteria, there’s still time for you to apply. More information about the GatorSTAR program, including the admission criteria, program details, and a link to the online application, is provided below
