Southeast Soils Quality Control Specialist
Southeast Soils produces professional, custom potting media and quality organics for the horticulture and agriculture industries. We are seeking a Quality Control Specialist to help us maintain and improve the quality of our products to better serve our customers. The Quality Control Specialist plays an important role in the production process helping to monitor and maintain the quality of incoming and outgoing products and will work closely with our new fully automated in-line soil blending machine and production crew.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor incoming raw materials and components produced within our facility. This will include visual inspection and pH, EC, and % moisture readings.
· Monitor in-line machine production and work with production manager to ensure all systems operate properly and quality of mixes are maintained
· Take retains of all high value mixes - will include collecting sample, routine tests of sample, and archiving in organized way for later reference
· Calibration of in-line machine
· Communicate with sales team on technical and production matters
· Occasionally communicate with and/or visit customers on technical matters and troubleshoot grower issues
· Maintain and utilize lab for daily job functions
· Perform trials of new products or mixes off site at customers nurseries or in house
· Make mix samples for sales team to distribute to customers
· Various other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related science preferred
· Knowledge of horticulture industry, particularly potting media
· Detail oriented person with strong organizational and communication skills
· Ability to work with a team while possessing the ability to work independently and be self-motivated
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products
