JBG Organic is a 200-acre organic vegetable CSA farm located in Austin, TX. We grow over 30 different types of vegetables and over 300 different varieties. We sell our produce through our 1,000 member CSA, at the Austin area farmers markets as well as to local restaurants and grocery stores.
We are currently seeking a new assistant farm manager! This is a full time position with salary and benefits. This position coordinates day-to-day farm production operations and reports directly to the Farm Manager and Operations Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
-Communicate with Greenhouse coordinator daily to ensure seeding is on schedule and quotas are met
-Coordinate with Field and Irrigation Manager to schedule weekly bed preparation and direct seeding.
-Coordinate with Planting Manager to schedule weekly transplanting and hand seeding schedules.
-Assist with collection of daily farm logs and record keeping needed for organic certification and crop insurance.
-Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of irrigation supplies, plastic mulch, compost, liquid fertilizers, organic insecticides and foliar applied organic fertilizers.
-Facilitate the repair of farm vehicles, tractors and equipment. This includes ordering parts, calling mechanics/tractor shops, and organizing farm labor in order to make repairs and maintenance possible.
-Contact for daily farm deliveries and receiving
-Supervisor for Volunteer Coordinator and Inter-farm Drivers.
Skills and Qualifications:
-Ability to work independently and cooperatively
-College degree in related field of study required
-Must be highly organized and multitask effectively
-Must possess good communication skills
-Must be able to perform in fast paced environment
-Proficiency in Spanish preferred
-Commercial farming experience preferred
-A basic understanding of mechanics and equipment maintenance
