The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in water resource management, is seeking a Student Intern for the Water Resources Bureau. The District offers the Student Internship Program to provide students with real work experience and specific hands-on knowledge related to the chosen course of study. This Student Internship Position will primarily support the Resource Evaluation Section but is also expected to provide some assistance to the Engineering and Water Supply sections by performing tasks for project managers, engineers, and management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work with the Water Resources Bureau to:
• Perform hydrogeologic, biologic, and administrative tasks for Project Managers and Hydrogeologists, Engineers, and Biologists related to the Minimum Flows and Levels program.
• Perform field work to evaluate lake and wetland health and collect elevation data for hydrologic indicators.
• Assist the Resource Evaluation Section with its Knowledge Management Initiative.
• Assist the Water Supply and Engineering Sections on project and program tasks.
Student positions will be assigned to work no more than 25 hours per week. These positions are not eligible for insured benefits. Position will be for a term of four to six months.
