Data Science and Informatics Symposium March 17

Do the terms big data, data science, machine learning, or predictive analytics intrigue you? Have you ever wondered how Netflix understands what you want to watch? Have you ever considered how Nate Silver predicts the outcomes of elections? Do you have no clue what we’re talking about but want to learn anyway?

Then DSI, the Data Science and Informatics student organization here at UF, is here to help! We host Workshops on Python, R, Data Visualization, and more on a weekly basis. Join our Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/DataSciUF , to stay updated with our events. Check out our website, http://www.dsiufl.org/ , to learn about our organization.

You are invited to UF DSI's annual Spring Symposium on Saturday, March 17th, 10:30AM to 5:00PM at the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. We will have speakers hosting 20-minute long presentations on data science projects, work, and research followed by 10 minute Q&A sessions. We will also have two rounds of interactive workshops to teach you the key tools utilized in data analytics, such as programming in Python and R, data visualization, and fundamentals of machine learning. Bring a laptop to participate in the workshops. Coffee and lunch will be served. Check out our Facebook event for the symposium to stay updated: https://www.facebook.com/events/1863320597291287/

If you are in the first 100 people to RSVP for the Symposium by January 24th, you will receive a DSI T-SHIRT at the event!
