Field Operations Manager Position - C&E Farms

New AI Course in Spring 2021
We are pleased to announce a new, introductory, 1-hour course for Spring 2021, Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence (EGN 1935, section FOAI, class number 31730). In this course, you will learn what artificial intelligence (AI) is (from a high-level, conceptual standpoint) and how it is used to solve real-world problems in a wide variety of disciplines. This course will give you a broad overview of how AI technologies are transforming science, art, medicine, business, and more, and it will equip you to think about how AI might be applied to your own areas of interest. This course is intended for students from any major/discipline, and you do not need to have previous AI or technical expertise. Most class sessions will feature guest lectures from top AI researchers at UF who apply AI in their field. Class will meet online during 7th period on Tuesdays, from 1:55 PM to 2:45 PM. We are finalizing the details of the itinerary and budget now, but it will be ~ $3,000 for the program (includes 4 credits, all accommodations, coach bus transportation, boat trips, entry fees, and meals - except for 2 dinners). The program for the January meeting will focus on The Future for Animal Agriculture and take place virtually on January 13-15. The University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences can nominate one student to participate. Up to six students from an accredited North American college or university will be selected by the Farm Foundation to participate.
Students selected for the Cultivator program will receive an honorarium for full participation in the event.

NASA’s SLSTP Summer Internship Program
The primary goal of the Space
Life Sciences Training Program (SLSTP) is to train the next generation of
scientists and engineers, enabling NASA to meet future research and development
challenges in the space life sciences. SLSTP provides undergraduate students
with the opportunity to perform cutting-edge research and discover exciting
careers in Space Biology at NASA’s Ames Research Center located in Silicon
Valley, California. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 SLSTP was held virtually, and the 2021 program will be held
remotely as well. Interns are paired with a mentor for individual research
projects in areas such as molecular, cell, organismal or synthetic biology,
bioinformatics or bioengineering. In addition, the cohort of interns
designs and executes a group project.
The SLSTP is an equal opportunity program. Admission is by
competitive application process. Past student participants were selected for
their outstanding merit, passion for space, and desire to study space life
science. Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- be a US citizen*
- be in high academic standing (GPA of 3.2 or greater)
- have a minimum age of 18
- be a junior or senior undergraduate student next Fall

iDigTRIO Biological Sciences Conference - Call for posters!
In collaboration with iDigBio, TRIO programs at UF, Student Support Services and Ronald E. McNair Scholars are launching the 3rd Annual iDigTRIO Biological Sciences Conference to be held virtually on February 11-13, 2021. Created in 2019, iDigTRIO is a national conference connecting first-generation, limited-income, and/or underrepresented students to information about careers and graduate school research opportunities in the biological sciences.

NRCS Summer Intern position-apply by 10/21
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of survey work to develop topographic, cross section, profile, and other types of duty for use by a professional engineer.
- Operates and is trained in the operation of engineering instruments such as an engineer's level, hand level, laser level, total station, data collector, and GPS.
- Operates a personal computer to process data, organize data, type design reports, estimate costs, calculate material quantities, and perform simple hydrology and hydraulic calculations
- Assists with construction inspection and layout for conservation structures for adherence to plans and specifications.

IMPORTANT...FE Review Schedule for Fall 2020
The FE Review schedule has been finalized and is ready to distribute.
We've included a
table below with the date, subject, professor, departmental specificity, and
time. The price is $5 per review or $15 to attend all and is free of charge to
Chi Epsilon members. Payment can be made via Chi Epsilon’s Venmo
(@Chi-Epsilon-UF).

of reviews covering core subjects tested on the Fundamentals of Engineering
Exam. Our goal is to ensure you start out on the right foot in your career
toward professional licensure. The cost is $5 per review or $15 to attend all
reviews (note: the Hazardous Waste, Wastewater, and Air Pollution reviews are
