Engineering Specialist at SRWMD
Essential Functions:
• Coordinates the effective and efficient acquisition of water use monitoring data in support of agricultural water use monitoring and water resource planning, including equipment selection, installation, calibration, and maintenance.
• Coordinates the design and operation of databases needed in the acquisition of water use monitoring data.

POSITION
PURPOSE:
The Berry Ranch Manager performs the vital function of developing
and operating RAC’s berry farm operations in a manner that is economically
successful, strategically oriented, and technically innovative.
JOB
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Production manager, the Ranch Manager
will maintain a RAC farms and develop plans for the farm, directly manage its
farming operations, and be responsible for its P&L. The Ranch Manager will
be responsible for all aspects of RAC’s new farming operations, including
overseeing ranch development, managing the ground prep and planting process,
hiring and management of operational and harvest labor, and executing day to
day cultural growing practices and harvest activities in order to ensure
successful crops.
RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDE
- Manages
and supervises, with hands-on involvement, all farming activities,
including irrigation system installation and management, land prep,
planting, fertilization and pesticide applications, pruning, and
harvesting.
- Identifies,
sources, and hires labor; develops and manages crews; ensures proper
training; manages performance.
- Learn
and implement the latest and best current production practices from within
the RAC organization, as well as from university and other outside
industry resources; develop and advance knowledge and innovations that
deliver competitive advantage.
- Develops
and manages operating budgets; assess the capital budget needs; manage
costs; and deliver expected profitability.
- Responsible
for submission of production data and any required crop information.
- Ensures
compliance with all labor laws, prime audits or food safety, company
policy and workers safety.
- Responsible
for the development of harvesting supervisors for succession plan
- Participate
in weekly and monthly crop statement reviews
- Continued
communication with Driscoll’s to ensure accurate estimates of crops and to
deliver high quality to the cooler

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High
School Diploma or equivalent education required.
- 1-3
years of experience in production agriculture.
- Direct
berry crop farming experience preferred.

Yon Family Farms is a registered Angus and commercial cattle farm located in west central South Carolina. Around 600 Angus brood cows and 250 commercial cows make up the herds.
A retail livestock supply business operates out of a multi-purpose facility at the Angus location. Feed, animal health supplies, livestock handling equipment, seed, minerals and fencing supplies are offered.
Kevin and Lydia Yon own & work full time on the farm, along with five other full-time employees, and four part-time employees who assist with daily chores, field work, and cattle work. They are looking for a Farm Operations Manager.
Job Requirements:
· Strong work ethic
· Knowledgeable of general farm operations, including forage planting, spraying, fertilization and harvest.
· Responsible for coordinating all tractor, truck and farm equipment maintenance, minor repairs, and shall keep all records pertaining to such.
· Mechanical and welding skills would be beneficial, as would experience with irrigation and fencing.
· Coordinate and assist with forage and soil sampling for the entire operation.
· Working knowledge and experience with cattle, forages, nutrition and feeds, is helpful, but equally important is reliability, the ability to supervise others, and a strong work ethic.
· This individual will be expected to assist with cattle work including mixing feed and feeding with a vertical mixer wagon, putting out round hay bales, helping with herd health, and assisting with reproductive management.
