The UF Social Justice Summit: For the Gator Good -Allyship: Identify, Interact, & Impact
Join us for the second biennial Social Justice Summit to cultivate interdisciplinary and cross-cultural interactions in order to create a society that is equitable and inclusive where all members can be physically and psychologically safe. Let’s make a difference together For the Gator Good.
The 2018 SJS will be held on January 26 & 27, 2018 at the J. Wayne Reitz Union on the campus of the University of Florida. This year’s theme: Allyship: Identity, Interact, & Impact will explore questions related to Allyship in the work of Social Justice.
Keynote Speakers will include Dr. Zulema Valdez and Mr. Tim Wise.
Dr. Valdez is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Merced. Her work focuses on U.S. race relations, social, and economic inequality, and group disparities in health and wellness.
Tim Wise is an anti-racism activist and writer. His work focuses on bringing awareness about internalized elements of racist thinking in the U.S., arguing that, as a society, we can challenge this racist thinking and be taught to believe in equality.
