Florida Alternative Breaks (FAB) is a completely student-run service organization here on campus that sends out volunteer trips over academic breaks. We have an trip this Spring Break that may be of interest. The focus of the trip is Agroecology, and we will be working with La Gran Vista Agroecological Farm in Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica.
Participants will have the chance to live and work on an agro-ecological farm for a week. They will be involved in many different aspect of this self-sufficient farm, including construction, feeding the animals, planting seeds, soil conservation, maintenance of medicinal plants, using and producing organic fertilizer, maintaining the spring-water wells and harvesting crops.
The trip takes place during Spring Break, from February 27th-March 5th. The cost of the trip is $1,300 (including airfare) and a $500 deposit is due upon signing up. We have payment plans available for all interested!
More information can be found on our website and on the FAQ page. We only have TWO spot left and sign-ups for our international trips are closing on Friday February 12 at 5 pm. This is such a great opportunity for UF students and we would hate to see the trip go out not 100% full.
