Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the McNair Scholars Program prepares undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities and encourages their entrance into teaching and research careers. McNair Scholars are students with strong academic potential who are either first-generation college students with financial need or members of a group that is traditionally underrepresented in graduate education. There are currently 151 McNair programs throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
