Beard Equipment in Freeport, FL is seeking a full-time, permanent, direct hire service technician. Beard Equipment is one of the largest John Deere equipment distributors in the Southeast and have been serving the Gulf Coast for over 40 years.

Job Function:
This postion requires little if any work direction from the Service Manager or Shop Foreman. Work is completed in a safe, professional and timely manner. Must be able to diagnose the correct failure mode, using the appropriate Technical Manual procedures and special tools. Must be able to perform complete component removal, disassembly, and reconditioning, following Technical Manual procedures. Must be able to safely operate all machines marketed by the dealership. Must conduct themselves in the presence of customers in a manner that promotes a positive image of the company.

The Holly Factory - Nursery Production Manager

About the Company: The Holly Factory grows and distributes woody ornamentals to customers throughout the Eastern and Southwestern United States. The Holly Factory opened in 1997. We provide our customers a high quality and consistent source of larger container grown woody ornamentals. Consistency, flexibility, quality and 100% satisfaction provide the framework for our success. We are located in Gainesville, Florida in the heart of North Central Florida.

Available Position: Due to increased growth we are seeking a Production Manager with experience in a wholesale tree nursery, growing or agriculture environments. Position includes excellent salary, vacation, paid holidays and more.

Compensation: Base $45K-$65K

Job Function: Oversee inventory, purchasing, and crop management program. Utilize systems with the primary goals of reducing costs, improving procedures, and increasing profit. Work with General Manager and Production Supervisor to maximize our efficiency and accuracy. Supervise and motivate staff of approximately 25 employees, increase overall operational performance, while promoting a positive, professional work environment.

Job Duties:
  • Supervise and implement tree production and inventory
  • Develop strategies for production, receiving and shipping efficiencies
  • Manage and oversee purchasing functions
  • Work with General Manager to minimize green goods costs
  • Develop and train staff to use equipment and systems efficiently
  • Oversee and implement weekly, monthly and yearly production goals
  • Work with AP/AR clerk to achieve correct invoicing
  • Create and implement a compliant IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Program
  • Utilize/create efficiencies through our systems to improve company growth

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good organizational skills to accomplish tasks efficiently
  • Ability to work autonomously as a key team member, learn and support other functions

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
  • B.S in Horticultural or related field preferred but not necessary
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred but not necessary
  • Strong computer experience in Excel and Word
  • 3-5 years Production Management experience

Agriculture Future of America Leaders Conference

The Agriculture Future of America Leaders Conference will be held Nov. 6-9, 2014 in Kansas City, MO. Student sponsorship includes registration, lodging and most meals. Kalu Yala Internship/Independent Study Abroad in Panama

Kalu Yala is a sustainable community that will be built in the mountains about 45 minutes outside Panama City, Panama. Kalu Yala Entrepreneurial Internship programs take place in 3 venues: creating the town's foundation in Kalu Yala; creating relationships in the neighboring town of San Miguel; and working on business logistics in Panama City.

Programs include Biology based in Kalu Yala, Business Development and Entrepreneurship based in Panama City, Community Outreach and Education based in San Miguel, Farm to Table Culinary Arts based in Kalu Yala, Health and Wellness based in San Miguel, Organic Agriculture and Animal Science based in Kalu Yala, and Outdoor Recreation based in Kalu Yala. Interns are encouraged to come up with and implement their own semester project. Some interns choose to do solo projects while others work in groups to make their dream a reality. Liberty Power Bright Horizon Scholarship

The Liberty Power Bright Horizon Scholarship awards $20,000 each year to college students studying STEM that have an interest in pursuing a career in energy and/or the environment. The scholarship is collaboration between Liberty Power and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation. A total of $20,000 will be awarded in the form of four scholarships valued at $10,000, $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000.
