Locally Grown Internship Program

Description
J&C Tropicals, a well-established and growing national tropical produce distributor is looking for a highly motivated undergraduate student with a strong interest in Locally Grown Programs.
 
This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the internship having gained experience in various aspects of farming and distfibuting locally grown produce.

Responsibilities
• Assist Produce Buyer for in-house production, and locally grown initiatives
• Participate in meeting with locally grown vendors.
• Assist in all aspects of the farm's production, from soil preparation to harvest, from administration to marketing farm products
• Participate in harvest and post-harvest handling, field seeding, irrigation and cultivation needs,
and maintaining records.
• Assisting farm field supervisors with daily tasks and projects.
• Assisting existing management staff in evaluating, analyzing, designing, and maintaining all
Farming Department data
• Assimilating and analyzing production and farm-related data such as yield, size and quality information

Requirements
• Company is looking for an undergraduate student in the Miami/Homestead area who is majoring
in Agriculture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
• Extensive knowledge of Agriculture practices.
• Open minded, innovative and forward thinking
• Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English) speaking
