Research & Development Technician Intern-Deadline 3/28

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Research & Development Technician Intern position in the Global Irrigation Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that is interested in gaining exposure to the day-to-day workings of an Agronomy Research & Development department.
Additionally, you will…
• Get exposure to the day-to-day workings of irrigation technologies and crop production techniques which will be seen in a variety of small and large scale field trials
• Be part of the Research & Development team working on the setup, installation, startup, operation and data collection for projects focused on the testing of new irrigation technologies and crop production techniques
• Provide information on an array of different projects
• Use soil moisture sensors, IR thermometers flow meters, and pressure sensors to collect data
• Assist with developing and preparing product releases to the market
• Work with different people on the team, getting exposure to different angles of team development
• Choose one of the available Research & Development intern projects to develop and complete during the months of the internship
• Continually acquire an increased knowledge of existing assemblies while learning more regarding
Valmont’s manufacturing capabilities and the field usage of Valmont products
• Participate in hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership

Required Qualifications
• Junior standing within an Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Mechanized Systems, Soil Mechanics, Soil Conservation or related agriculture field degree with two years of course work completed
• A minimum 3.00 GPA
• The ability to travel domestically up to 75% of the time
• The ability to work outdoors for extended periods in a variety of environmental conditions
• A valid US driver’s license
• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
• An understanding of basic mechanical and electrical skills
• An understanding of agricultural practices
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• The ability to work well in a team environment
