The USDA-NIFA Undergraduate Fellowship program: Impact of Biochar on Lifecycles of Agricultural Chemicals and Interactions between Plants and Soil Microorganisms at South Dakota State University will target undergraduate participants from universities, four-year institutions, Tribal colleges and community colleges. The USDA-NIFA Undergraduate Fellowship site will include a diverse group of students including females and minorities. All undergraduate will obtain hands-on experience of innovative science and engineering tools in areas of Sustainable Bioenergy, Water Resources, Natural Resources, and Environment; as well as be involved in the research activities to understand the mechanisms of biochar modification of the lifecycle of agricultural chemicals; and the biochar–soil microbial profile–plant interactions.
